Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja feels the team ticks all the right boxes in the ongoing World Cup as they have a balanced squad. Team India won the opening game against Australia by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday.
Jadeja was the star of the show with the ball as he returned with impressive figures of 3-28 in his quota of 10 overs. The left-arm spinner bowled a magnificent delivery to get rid of a well-settled Steve Smith and then accounted for Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey.
India is always a formidable side in their home conditions and they will aim to continue the winning impetus in the upcoming games.
Following the match, Jadeja told the ICC: “It is very special because this is my first World Cup in India. The fans are very excited because our team is balanced in all areas. There is nothing that we are weak in any particular area.”
Meanwhile, India made it to the semifinals of the 2015 and 2019 World Cup but lost to Australia and New Zealand respectively. However, Jadeja is hopeful that the team can come up with a collective effort and end their major ICC title drought of the last decade.
“The energy of Indian fans, their confidence, and their unwavering faith in us are incredibly high. Whenever we play in India, for any series, they turn out in such large numbers that the entire stadium remains packed. I find it very exciting to play in the World Cup in front of the Indian crowd. Hopefully, we’ll perform well, reach the finals, and win the World Cup.”
In fact, Jadeja was able to make the most of the known conditions in Chennai and he is going to hold the key with both bat and ball.
India has got off to an ideal start and would want to carry the winning impetus against Afghanistan in their second game of the ODI showpiece, which will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday.
