Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has tipped India’s bowling unit as the best he has ever seen. India’s bowling attack has been breathing fire in the ongoing World Cup 2023 as they have done a magnificent job. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have been brilliant in the Powerplay overs as they have provided crucial breakthroughs.
Mohammed Shami has also been right on the money since he has been added to the team’s playing XI. India’s spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have also done a tremendous job in the middle overs.
Indian bowlers have picked up a total of 86 wickets in the nine matches they have played and they have bowled out the opposition on seven occasions.
”This present bowling unit is the best Indian bowling unit I have ever seen. There have been great (Indian) bowlers over time but as a unit (this is the best),” Hussain said on Star Sports.
”If Bumrah does not get you, Siraj will. If Siraj does not get you, Shami will. If they don’t get you, the two spinners will come in and they will get you out.”
Meanwhile, India had a potent batting unit in Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, current India coach Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman and they were well known as the fab five. Hussain added they have the Fab Five with the ball now.
”There used to be Fab 5 with the bat, this is the Fab 5 with the ball now,” said Hussain.
In the ongoing ODI showpiece, Shami has scalped 16 wickets in five matches at an impressive average of 9.56 and has an economy rate of 4.78. He is India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament despite playing only five matches. Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah has bagged 17 wickets at an impressive average of 15.64 in nine matches of the tournament.
Moreover, Mohammed Siraj has picked 12 wickets in nine games. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have snared 14 and 16 wickets respectively in the ongoing ODI showpiece.
The first semifinal will be played between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai on Wednesday.
