India’s rookie wicket-keeper bat Dhruv Jurel has revealed how Indian skipper Rohit Sharma motivates the young players to give their 100% when they are representing the country at the top level. Rohit is known to get the best out of his players and has found great success as a leader.
Jurel played under Rohit’s captaincy in the five-match Test series against England in the absence of injured Rishabh Pant. The right-hander was able to grab his opportunity with both hands as he impressed not only behind the wickets but also delivered as a batter.
Jurel scored 190 runs in three Test matches at an average of 63.33 against England. The youngster also scored a match-winning knock of 90 runs off 149 balls in the first innings of the fourth Test at Ranchi.
Jurel said Rohit spends a lot of quality time with the youngsters off the field and motivates his players to give their best on the field.
“He doesn’t sit with the seniors, he calls in the youngsters like me Sarfaraz or Jaiswal and asks us what’s going on and all. It’s fun if you ask me,” Jurel revealed in an interview uploaded on Jatin Sapru’s YouTube channel.
“Even he gives his 100 per cent as well and he might tell us to go here and there but after the game, in the evening, it’s all casual,” he added.
Jurel has been picked for the first Test match squad against Bangladesh. The opening Test match will be played in Chennai from September 19.
