Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed he had plans for different bowlers in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe, which the tourists convincingly won by 10 wickets at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Saturday. Asked to bat first, Zimbabwe posted an under-par score of 152 runs on the board on a flat pitch.
The hosts got off to a promising start but could not capitalize. However, the visitors showed how it is done as Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal added an unbeaten 156 for the opening alliance.
Jaiswal took the attack to the Zimbabwe bowlers in the Powerplay overs, helping India score 61 in the first six. The left-hander completed his fifth T20I fifty off 29 balls and moved down a gear after the fielding restrictions were lifted.
Jaiswal scored a fine knock of 93 runs off just 53 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes whereas Gill continued his rich form, scoring 58 off 39 balls.
Jaiswal, who was awarded Player of the Match for his fine knock, said in the post-match presentation, “I really enjoyed my batting today. I had my plans for different bowlers. The ball was coming on when it was new and as it got old, it was quite slow. I enjoyed batting with Shubman. Initially, I was thinking to take on the bowlers and as the innings progressed, I thought how to build the innings and stay till the end.”
On the other hand, Gill was delighted with the team’s performance and revealed they wanted to chase after they were stunned in the opening game.
Gill said, “Chasing was one thing we were talking about because we were not able to do that in the first T20. It feels good but the job is not done, we have one more game. This is a great team. I haven’t had the discussion with the coach and if there are any changes then I will let you know at the toss.”
The fifth and final T20I of the series will be played at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Sunday.
