In football, forwards hog the limelight just like the lead singer in a band. However, goalkeepers also play a crucial role in the success of their teams as they keep the opposition at bay. The custodians play an instrumental role in their team’s success with their agility and reflexes.
We take a look at the top three goalkeepers of the ISL 2023-24 season.
Phurba Lachenpa: Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa got the Golden Glove award for 42 saves and keeping nine clean sheets (joint-most in the tournament) in 22 appearances for the club. Thus, he played a key role in taking the Islanders to glory. Lachenpa had a 71% save percentage and he conceded 17 goals in the season. The 26-year-old was like a solid wall in front of the sticks and did a fantastic job for Petr Kratky’s team. Lachenpa had a 63% passing accuracy.
Amrinder Singh: Odisha FC’s Amrinder Singh did a fine job for the Kalinga Warriors in the ISL 2023-24 season.
