The Coronavirus Pandemic, which is currently putting big holes into the calendars of prominent football competitions across Europe and all over the world has also ensured a stop in footballing activities at all levels in India.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) was over the weekend forced to put a hold to the I-League on March 15 with three rounds of matches still to be played due to the Coronavirus.
Also affected by the rule is the 2nd division which league matches have been suspended, the youth will also have its games on hold while the Baby League is not left out.
The Indian Super League (ISL) final was played on March 14 and played without fans and behind closed doors as initially planned.
In the final of the India Super League in Goa saw Atletico De Kolkota win its third India Super League title after beating Chennaiyin 3-1 with Spanish Midfielder Javi Hernandez scoring a brace.
In a statement released by the All India Football Federation, the decision to suspend all football activities under its aegis was made in order to conform with the directives issued by the governments, especially state level and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The organization stated that it understood the importance of the health of humans as well as the lives of fans and individuals, which it prioritizes.
It stated further that it would never compromise the health of football fans and humans and said it would re-evaluate the situation of things in the last week in March before a decision is made as to restoring the league.
Also, the decision will be made with the directives of the most relevant authorities. Already, the English Premier League is contemplating how to end the season after suspending the league before the weekend.
