East Bengal FC’s midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti feels their head coach Carles Cuadrat is their driving force in the Indian Super League. The Red and Gold Brigade played in the ISL for the first time in the 2020-21 season but failed to impress in the tournament in the last two seasons.
However, the club has performed more consistently in the ongoing season under the tutelage of Carles Cuadrat. East Bengal FC have been unbeaten in the last five matches but have managed a single win.
They have won two matches out of the ten they have played with 11 points and they are currently positioned at eighth place in the standings. East Bengal FC also shared spoils with third-placed Odisha FC in their previous match of the season. Ergo, Carles Cuadrat has been able to get the best out of his players.
Chakrabarti said he always tries to give his absolute best for the team.
“To be honest, I’m not a believer in the concept of ‘change’. I always strive to give my best every time,” Chakrabarti told TV9 Bangla Sports.
“Last year, I couldn’t play in many matches due to injury. Therefore, I am aiming to perform better in every single match from the beginning of the season,” he added.
Chakrabarti feels he has benefitted after playing in the Calcutta Football League and he has tried to make the most of chances to get the best out of himself.
“Playing in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) has greatly aided me in regaining my form. I have never underestimated the CFL or any other matches; I played where the club has asked me to play,” he said.
“I have always followed the coach’s instructions. I strive to play in a way that can benefit the team. There is no secret to playing well, and you can’t achieve success without hard work and dedication,” he added.
The midfielder added that Cuadrat guides and motivates the players on and off the field.
“(Carles) Cuadrat is the main driving force of our team. He consistently guides and motivates us both on and off the field. There is no doubt that Cuadrat has adapted well to the football culture of East Bengal FC, forging a strong bond within the team that will only grow stronger with time,” he stated.
