Brazil’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Neymar will be available for the team’s final group match against Scotland. Neymar is currently recovering from a calf injury, which has kept him out of action for more than a month.
The talisman striker was not part of Brazil’s squad for the first two games of the World Cup against Morocco and Haiti. He was seen on the pitch along with his teammates Raphinha, Bruno Guimarães, Gabriel Magalhães, and Fabinho on last Wednesday.
Neymar was picked by Carlo Ancelotti in the World Cup squad despite picking up a calf injury while playing for Santos on May 17, and had not returned to training since.
“Neymar will train individually tomorrow [Saturday]. On Monday he will be with the team and he will be ready for the game against Scotland.”
Neymar is Brazil’s leading goal-scorer with 79 goals in 129 international caps.
Brazil’s striker Vinicius Jr., on the other hand, revealed his excitement on the prospect of sharing the pitch with his idol, Neymar.
“Neymar is a very important player for us. We hope he can play in the next match,” the Real Madrid star said.
“We are happy with his progress. Having him with the group is very important for all of us. He is my idol and has always given me a lot of support. I hope he comes back for the next game and helps us throughout the World Cup.”
Neymar has struggled to play consistently since returning from tearing the ACL in his left knee in October 2023 in a World Cup qualifier.
Brazil, the five-time champions, will face Scotland on Wednesday at the Miami Stadium.
