Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya said the club is confident that they can beat anybody at any time. The Gunners ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title in the previous season under Mikel Arteta. 

Arsenal had finished in second place in the last three editions of the Premier League, but they were finally able to get over the line. Furthermore, Arteta’s team qualified for the Champions League final but could not cross the last hurdle against Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard scored in a comprehensive 3-0 win against promoted Coventry to begin their title defense on a high.

“We want to become winners, not just a one-off,” goalkeeper Raya told the Press Association.

“I think we’re going to have to attack the league again, attack the cups, attack the Champions League because we want more.

“We want all the trophies, and we are confident that we can beat anybody at any time, so we just have to be focused on ourselves and do better than last season.”

Meanwhile, Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice were shortlisted for the men’s Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award, which was eventually won by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. The trio was named in the Premier League Team of the Year along with teammates Jurriën Timber and William Saliba.

“The season was incredible, collectively and individually,” Spain international Raya said. “I think we deserved to be there and be champions, so that was the most important thing.

“Every season is very, very long with ups and downs, but I think we dealt with everything that was thrown at us and it was an incredible season to lift the trophy, to give Arsenal the Premier League after 22 years, so, yeah, an amazing season.”

Arsenal will next take on Aston Villa on Monday at Villa Park, Birmingham.
