Indian Super League outfit East Bengal FC announced the contract extension with their Indian assistant coach Bino George on Thursday. The Kolkata outfit are very happy with Bino’s efforts and have signed him for the next year years till 2026.
Bino will continue to lead the junior teams and will also be the head of youth development in the club. Apart from that he is being reinstated as the Indian assistant coach of the club. He will work in tandem with Carles Cuadrat and his team to take the club to greater heights in the upcoming campaign.
The AFC pro license holder coach joined East Bengal last year and has done wonders with their junior teams. He guided East Bengal’s developmental team to win the East Zone qualifiers of the recently concluded Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL). However, they missed out on the semifinals in the RFDL National Group Stage in Mumbai by just a point. They won three out of their four games.
Bino is known for bringing up young talents and making them into great footballers. He won the Santosh Trophy with Kerala in 2022 and East Bengal are confident that under his tutelage, their development team will shine and will produce players who can go on to play in the ISL and also for India in the future.
Mr. Debabrate Mukherjee of the Emami Group was very happy with the development. He was satisfied with Bino George’s contribution and felt that the coach deserved an extension. “During the past year, Bino has proved to be a great asset for our club. We are pleased to hand him a three-year extension and appoint him as the Indian Assistant Coach for our first team. The youngsters love playing under him and have shown rapid improvement, hence he’ll also continue to be the Head of our Youth Development,” he stated.
The Kerala-based coach was very grateful for the opportunity as he shared that East Bengal is like his home. He stated his gratitude and thanked the management for believing in him. “East Bengal has been like a family to me. I am really fortunate to be representing this historic club. It’s a huge motivation for me and my boys,” Bino stated.
He also went on to say how he wants to take the senior team to greater heights under the guidance of Cuadrat and the other support staff just like he has done with the junior team. He believes that his extensive knowledge of Indian football will come in handy for the Spaniard tactician.
“Having tasted success with the youth team last season, I now want to help our senior men’s team soar to greater heights. I look forward to working with Coach Cuadrat and I’m sure that our collective experience will prove beneficial for the first team. I like taking responsibility, so I will relish looking after our reserves and development teams as well. I would like to thank the club and Emami Group for keeping faith in me,” he concluded.
Lastly, head coach Carles Cuadrat was also delighted to know that Bino George will assist him in the upcoming season. He praised his deep knowledge of Indian football and feels that it will help the first team in many ways. “Bino is a highly experienced coach and has done a tremendous job with our youth team. His knowledge about Indian football will help our first team immensely, and I look forward to working with him,” Cuadrat signed off.
