Indian Super League champion East Bengal has strengthened its attacking options by signing Polish forward Lukasz Zwoliński on a free transfer until the end of the season, the club announced on Thursday.
The 33-year-old arrives as East Bengal continues to reinforce its squad following a successful campaign in which the Red-and-Gold Brigade won the Indian top flight and lifted the Durand Cup after a 22-year wait.
Zwoliński is set to replace Youssef Ezzejjari as the club’s centre-forward. Ezzejjari left East Bengal following the conclusion of last season, creating an opening in attack that the Polish striker will now look to fill.
The new signing brings considerable experience from European football. Zwoliński spent much of his developmental years in the youth system of Polish top-flight club Pogoń Szczecin before making the step up to its senior side.
During his time with Pogoń Szczecin’s first team, the forward made 120 appearances across competitions. He scored 25 goals and provided nine assists, establishing himself at senior level before continuing his career elsewhere.
Zwoliński most recently played in the Turkish second division last season. He featured in 25 matches during the campaign and scored four goals.
His arrival forms part of East Bengal’s efforts to build a stronger squad under head coach Antonio Lopez Habas ahead of the challenges of the 2026-27 season.
The Kolkata club has already been active in strengthening different areas of the team. Diego Živulić and Dani Ramirez have also been brought in as East Bengal looks to add depth and experience to a squad coming off a trophy-winning campaign.
The addition of Zwoliński gives Habas another experienced option in the final third and fills the centre-forward position vacated by Ezzejjari.
Expectations will be high after East Bengal’s recent success. Having ended a 22-year wait by winning both the Indian top-flight crown and the Durand Cup, the club will enter the new campaign looking to build on that momentum.
Zwoliński will now have the opportunity to establish himself as East Bengal’s leading striker as the Red-and-Gold Brigade prepares to defend its domestic success with a reinforced squad.
