Despite its recent financial crisis East Bengal has continued its signing spree as the team confirmed the capture of three players.
The second placed team in the 2019-20 season of the I-league were reported to have invoked the force majeure on its players despite showing interest in moving into the Indian Super League.
Quess Corp which is the club’s recent sponsor revoked its contract with the club after the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic became glaring stating that staff and players won’t be paid for may.
However, the club is in discussion with potential investors with a view to make the transition into the India Super League seamless after traditional rivals Mohun Bagan also made the jump.
In a statement by the club on Monday Atletico De Kolkota’s sehnaj Singh, Jamshedpur FC Bikash Jairu and Minerva Punjab’s cavin Lobo were snapped up
Sehnaj will be making a return to the side after winning the India Super League with Atletico De Kolkota last season after playing 8 matches for the team he joined in 2015.
Also, the defensive midfielder won the I-league with Mohun Bagan in 2015, the same year he made his senior debut for the Indian national team which he has five caps for since then.
Similarly, Bikash Jairu, who joins the team from Jamshedpur, is making a return to the clubside after initial stint in 2015 to 2017 while Cavin Lobo joined Minerva Punjab on loan from Atletico De Kolkota.
East Bengal have signed up nothing less than four players already as they continue to rebuild the team with Balwant Singh, Shankar Roy, novin gurung and Omid singh some of the players they have recruited.
The red-and-gold had a Topsy turvy 2019-20 I-League season and eventually finished second behind Mohun Bagan who won the league with four matches left.
