Jamshedpur FC striker Daniel Chima Chukwu has urged their fans to keep believing in them in the ongoing Indian Super League. The Red Miners haven’t got off to a promising start in the ongoing ISL 2023-24 season as they have managed two wins in 12 matches with three draws and seven losses.
Ergo, they are in 10th place in the standings and they will look to come up with more consistent performances in 2024. Meanwhile, the Nigerian footballer has been in mixed form in the ongoing season, scoring five goals in 11 matches. Furthermore, he scored five goals and two assists in 19 matches of the previous season.
The 32-year-old forward was most impressive in the 2021-22 season when he scored seven goals in only 11 matches for Jamshedpur FC.
Recalling his time at the club in an interview with Khel Now, Chukwu said, “My time at Jamshedpur FC has been amazing. I never had the reason to doubt the team since I joined. The journey has been really good so far.”
Since the last two seasons haven’t gone Jamshedpur FC’s way, to which Chukwu said, “The past two seasons haven’t really been going well for us. But that doesn’t mean we are not giving our best in every training and every game. And it can be seen in how we try to play the games. We are giving everything but for some reasons it’s not going as per our plans. Hopefully, it’s gonna come soon.”
The Nigerian hasn’t been at his absolute best in the ongoing season and feels they haven’t been able to execute their plans to perfection.
“The season gave me the chance to try out a few new players and see how I can adapt to their style of play and a new coaching style. So far, it hasn’t really affected me. It’s just that it hasn’t really gone according to how we planned in the beginning.”
Talking about the missing playmaker in the team, he said, “ If you see the games, in most of them we were getting close to the goal. We created enough chances, just that we hadn’t got the attempts on target which changed in the game against Hyderabad FC. So hopefully, we keep hitting the target and get more goals because goals get us winning.”
