I-League Second Division side Bengaluru United has signed the trio of Nicholas Fernandes, Ronaldo Oliveira, and Jason Vaz ahead of their qualifiers in October.
Nicholas Fernandes moved from I-League side Gokulam Kerala to Bengaluru United on a 5-month contract, having started training with the team last week.
The player stated that the team’s preparation is a pointer that Bengaluru United will be the qualifiers’s best team as the team is shaping up.
“I think Bengaluru United will be the best team in the qualifiers. We are really working hard on our fitness twice a day as we have been out of action for a long time. It feels nice to be back playing football. Initially, it was difficult to start training, but we are getting used to the routine. The team is shaping up well,” Fernandes was quoted saying
Nicholas Fernandes was formerly with Churchill Brothers and Sporting Clube de Goa, although he had two spells at Churchill Brothers.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Ronaldo Oliveira was brought in from the Kerala Blasters reserve team, and he has also played for East Bengal and Salgaocar.
Other players who have joined Bengaluru United include defender Robert Primus and striker William Opoku from Churchill and Punjab FC, respectively.
Meanwhile, with sports and Sporting activities slowly resuming in India after the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic since March, the I-League Second Division qualifiers will be held in Kolkota in October, although a date has not been concluded on yet by the All India Football Federation.
Should Bengaluru United qualify for the I-League top division, it will be the first time in their history that they would be featuring in the top flight of the I-league.
Mohun Bagan won the 2019-20 I-League season, albeit the season was not completed as the pandemic wrecked sporting activities.
