FC Goa have confirmed the departure of Spanish midfielder David Timor, with the club announcing the mutual parting of ways on Wednesday. The move comes less than a year after the experienced campaigner joined the Indian Super League side.
In an official statement, the club paid tribute to Timor’s contribution and professionalism during his time in Goa. “The Club can confirm the departure of David Timor. Thank You for wearing the Orange with pride and fighting for the badge. Your experience and presence on the field will be missed. Good luck with what comes next, David. Once a Gaur, Always a Gaur!,” the statement read.
The 36-year-old central midfielder had signed for FC Goa in July last year, bringing with him vast experience from Spanish football. Known for his composure and game management in midfield, Timor was expected to add leadership and stability to the Goan side during his stint in the ISL.
Timor’s exit makes him the second overseas player to leave FC Goa during the current transfer window, following the earlier departure of club captain Borja Herrera. The back-to-back exits signal a period of transition for the club as it looks to reshape its squad moving forward.
Before his move to India, Timor built a long and steady career in Spain, competing at both the top and second tiers of the domestic league system. In La Liga, he made 143 appearances and scored eight goals across nine seasons. During that time, he represented several clubs, including Osasuna, Leganés, Girona and Getafe.
Timor also enjoyed a lengthy spell in the Segunda Division, the second tier of Spanish football, where he accumulated 261 appearances and netted 16 goals. His consistency and durability over the years made him a reliable presence wherever he played.
While Timor’s time at FC Goa was relatively short, the club acknowledged the value of his experience and leadership on and off the pitch. His departure closes another chapter in FC Goa’s ongoing squad changes this season, as attention now turns to how the team fills the void left by two senior overseas players.
