FC Goa have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026–27 season by signing Argentine attacking midfielder Francisco Feuillassier Abalo, better known as Franchu. The 28-year-old arrives after an impressive introduction to Indian football and is expected to add creativity and experience to the Gaurs’ midfield.
Franchu joins FC Goa following a brief but productive spell with Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League last season. Despite making only six appearances, he made an immediate impact by scoring two goals and providing three assists. His performances highlighted his ability to influence matches in the attacking third and attracted attention ahead of the new campaign.
Before moving to India, Franchu built his career in Spain, where he progressed through the renowned Real Madrid youth setup. His development in one of the country’s leading academies laid the foundation for a professional career that saw him feature across Spain’s football pyramid. During that time, he represented several clubs, including Rayo Vallecano, Eibar, Cartagena and Castellon, gaining valuable experience in different competitions and footballing environments.
FC Goa believe the Argentine’s arrival will strengthen the squad as preparations continue for the upcoming season. His experience in Spanish football, combined with his encouraging performances in the Indian Super League, is expected to provide the team with greater attacking options and versatility in midfield.
Head coach Gouramangi Singh welcomed the signing and praised both the player’s technical qualities and his influence within a squad.
“We had the opportunity to see glimpses of his quality last season, and it was clear that he has the ability to make a real impact. Beyond his footballing qualities, he’s a team player and a natural leader who raises the standards of those around him every day in training,” Singh said.
The move signals FC Goa’s intent to reinforce their squad with experienced talent capable of making an immediate contribution. Franchu’s track record in Spain and his early success in Indian football suggest he could play a key role for the Gaurs as they look to build momentum in the 2026–27 campaign.
