FC Goa have appointed Gouramangi Singh as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming season, handing the former assistant coach the responsibility of leading the first team as the club prepares for another campaign in domestic and continental competitions.
The announcement was made on Friday, marking a significant step in Gouramangi’s journey with the club. Having joined FC Goa as an assistant coach in July 2022, he now takes charge after spending four years as part of the coaching setup. During that period, he worked closely under former head coach Manolo Marquez and played a key role in the club’s recent progress.
Gouramangi is no stranger to leading the team from the sidelines. He has taken charge of the first team on an interim basis on several occasions, including during periods when Marquez was away on national team duty. His promotion reflects the club’s confidence in his ability to continue the work already underway rather than beginning a new chapter.
According to FC Goa, the appointment is a continuation of the direction established under Marquez. The club credited Gouramangi for helping shape the playing identity, standards and culture that have defined the team over the past three seasons, making him a natural choice to take over the top job.
The new coaching staff has also been confirmed. Gouramangi will be supported by assistant coach Shameel Chembakath, strength and conditioning coach Chelston Pinto, and goalkeeping coach Sugitesh Mandrekar as FC Goa look to build on recent success.

The new head coach will face an immediate challenge in his first competitive assignment. FC Goa will travel to Turkmenistan to take on Arkadag FK in the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League 2 on August 12. The fixture marks the club’s second consecutive continental campaign, earned after lifting the AIFF Super Cup last season, and will provide Gouramangi with an early opportunity to begin his tenure on the international stage.
