Goa FC on Wednesday secured a 5-2 victory against Gokulam in an Indian Super League game played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao.
The seven-goal thriller started with Rowlin Borges opener for the away side in the 18th minutes before Goa FC equalised almost immediately, two minutes later with Coro scoring from a Hugo Boumous assist.
Goa then scored two quick-fire goals moments before the break. They took the lead in the 38th minute of the first half as Hugo Boumous scored a goal of his own before Jackichand Singh scored his fourth goal in four games a minute later as the home team went on the break with a 3-1 lead.
There was a bit of optimism as Bipin Singh reduced the deficit to one goal in the 57th minute but failed to get another goal throughout the rest of the match.
Coro then got his brace when he got his second goal of the game with ten minutes left on in the game, and they rounded up the game with an 87th-minute own goal from Mumbai City defender Rafique Mohammed.
The win is the fourth win for Goa FC in five games, while the loss is the first in five games and as well put Mumbai City’s four games unbeaten run to an end.
Goa FC are now top on the table with 36 points from 17 games, three more than second-placed ATK who has played a game less while Mumbai are 4th with 26 points from 17 games too.
In their next games, Goa will travel to Jamshedpur on the 19th of February while Mumbai City will host Chennaiyin two days later.
In the only I-League game played on Wednesday, Gokulam beat Chennai 1-0.
