It has been a tough season for Aizawl FC as we enter the end of the first phase of the current I-League season. The Red are currently tenth in the league standings but one thing that has not changed for the club is their playing style under head coach Yan Law and their core philosophy of adapting to a passing style.
Speaking about Aizawl FC and the bond that Yan Law shares with the players is exceptional. The core values of the club have matched it really well with head coach Yan Law. The young head coach highlights how the club wants to promote local talent something that even he desires for the betterment and sustainability of the club.
The club always wants to promote the players of the state of Mizoram and players from the academy, which is fantastic and which I also strongly believe in. If I was also a club owner, I would love to promote the same what Aizawl FC is doing and they are doing a fantastic job,” said Yan Law in an interview with I-League media.
He shared how Aizawl are a very young bunch and for them to flourish at the I-League at such young age is immaculate. Aizawl FC over the years have promoted youth and that is something that has stayed with the club even under Yan Law. He shares how Aizawl FC have been the factory for football in Mizoram. Despite the job being very difficult, Yan Law loves to be a part of the club.
“They are the factory of Mizoram football. I am really blessed to be working with such a bunch of talented youngsters. It is a young squad and for them to be performing under this pressure, at this age, is a great experience which many people do not get. It’s not easy for these youngsters to cope with but I think they’ve been doing a good job and I am really happy to be part of Aizawl FC.”
Probably the youngest coach in the Indian football circuit in charge of an I-league club, Yan Law opened up on how he himself never thought of reaching this far at this age. He shared how he always had a dream of achieving such things. He also added how there are many players with whom he has worked in the past are now playing in the national team.
“You know I never expected to be working with such a reputed club at such a young age. It was always was a dream but getting it so early, I never ever thought about it. It has been a roller coaster ride so far, but it has been great and I am really enjoying working with such great players and such great clubs. There are so many players with whom I have worked and now they are playing in the national team. It’s a great achievement for me seeing boys excel. However, the journey has just begun!”
Lastly, the young head coach shared how he has always been a fan of quick possession based gameplay and he tries to embed that philosophy to his coaching philosophy. “I like to watch attractive football. From a young age, I loved to watch teams like Barcelona and Arsenal. The fans should be happy with what they see, and as long as the players are developing and learning as well, it’s a success. You can’t win every match, that’s football. However, I like to stick to my plan, like to stick to the system,” Yan Law concluded.
