England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane expressed his delight after he won Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career. Kane became the first English player since Michael Owen in 2001 to claim the prestigious award.
Kane defeated heavyweights like Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi to win the Ballon d’Or. While Kane scored 36 goals in 31 matches for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga in the previous season, Mbappé scored 25 goals in 31 matches for Real Madrid in LaLiga.
Furthermore, the French striker scored 15 goals in 11 games of the Champions League.
Kane, on the other hand, scored 73 goals and provided eight assists across the season. Thus, he played an instrumental role in helping Bayern Munich win the German treble (Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup).
Furthermore, Kane’s performance and captaincy played a key role in England’s third-place finish in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Kane scored six goals in seven games for Three Lions and has scored 14 goals in 18 career FIFA World Cup matches across three tournaments, making him the most successful England player at the quadrennial event.
“Wow, what a special feeling. Amazing night here in London. Congrats to all the winners. Thank you to all my friends, family, teammates, coaching staff and all the fans around the World. It wouldn’t be possible without you guys. So, yeah, best in the World right now. Feels incredible, thank you,” Kane said in a video posted on X.
Kane has scored four goals and has provided as many assists in seven matches of the Bundesliga this season.
