SC East Bengal came to their match against Hyderabad FC with a lot of motivation after breaking the jinx against FC Goa in the last game. However, they were shown no mercy as Bartholomew Ogbeche simply ran riot scoring a hat trick and Aniket Jadhav added another to decimate the Red and Golds to a 4-0 hammering.
This dominant win against SC East Bengal allowed Hyderabad FC to reclaim their position at the summit. More importantly, they kept a clean sheet which head coach Manolo Marquez pointed to be crucial to their hopes to remain at the top of the points table.
Manolo Marquez had earlier mentioned that it would be a very difficult game for the Nizams but after winning the game 4-0 he was asked whether the opponents made it easy for his team or not. But he highlighted how his team created more chances and were very clinical in their approach.
“We were very clinical today. If you look at the scoresheet it seems easy game. But it’s true, the moment we were winning 1-0 and they were attacking. But we created more chances than SCEB, especially in the first half,” Marquez began at the post-match press conference.
SC East Bengal had some great chances but Hyderabad FC defended with all their might and Laxmikiant Kattimani was also up to his task. The veteran custodian saved a penalty late in the game to keep the cleansheet intact, something that impressed Manolo Marquez.
“When you get a clean sheet you are always happy when even they miss a penalty and Laxmikant Kattimani made very good saves. It’s very important if our team concede fewer goals and I am very happy to score four, not three. But if we don’t concede goals, for sure we won’t lose the game,” the Spanish tactician asserted.
Bartholomew Ogbeche has been in exceptional form this season as he scored a hattrick and also became the highest scorer for Hyderabad FC in their club history. The Nigerian has already recorded 11 goals this season and is topping the goalscoring charts this season over the likes of Igor Angulo and Deshorn Brown. Marquez feels that he is just happy that Ogbeche plays for Hyderabad FC.
“I think he’s (Bartholomew Ogbeche) a very good player with a lot of experience. This is his fourth season in Hero ISL in four different teams and he has scored goals for each team. We are happy that he is playing for Hyderabad FC,” the Spaniard signed off.
