India U16 men’s national team will have its first training since the coronavirus lockdown as they resume preparations for the 2021 AFC U16 championship.
Training will hold in Goa for Bibiano Fernandes led the side at the AIFF Academy, and he has called up 30 players to camp.
While in Goa, the team will adhere to all Covid-19 safety protocols, and players and staff will arrive on Friday, November 20, albeit outdoor training will start only on November 30.
AIFF Director, National Teams, Mr. Abhishek Yadav, disclosed that returning to training for the team was important ahead of the AFC U-16 Championship as it is a stepping stone to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
All invited team members must test negative and carryout an RT-PCR Test before getting to camp and will further on be subjected to a ten days quarantine.
After the quarantine, another RT-PCR test will be carried out on team members, and outdoor training will only resume when all of them have tested negative.
Should any team member tests positive, local health authorities will be notified.
The AFC U-16 Championship will be held in Bahrain while the FIFA U-17 World Cup will be played in Peru in 2021; Brazil are the defending champions of the competition, having won the last edition in 2019 as hosts.
