Indian Super League outfit NorthEast United FC have signed former Hyderabad FC winger Laldanmawia Ralte. A report in Khel Now confirms that the winger will sign a multi-year deal with the Highlanders.
The Mizo winger did not have a great season with Hyderabad FC and he would be desperate to start on a high note at NorthEast United in the upcoming ISL season.
Danmawia’s footballing journey started when he joined the Mizoram Police club and then went on to ply his trade for Dinthar FC at the Mizoram Premier League. He impressed one and all in the Mizoram Premier League as he finished the season as joint top scorer and also won the Best Player award as Dinthar FC lifted the trophy. Danmawia’s impressive performances saw him earn a spot in the Mizoram Santosh Trophy team. He then also plied his trade for Mizo outfits like Chanmari FC and also featured for their cross-town rivals Chanmari West FC.
His first big break was when he joined Aizawl FC and featured in the I-League and played a pivotal role in Khalid Jami’s historic I-League winning side. He delivered some top-notch performances in his first I-League season and East Bengal were very impressed with the young winger. Therefore the Red and Gold signed Danmawia in 2017.
He had a slow start to his life at East Bengal as he scored only three goals in 14 I-League appearances along with a solitary assist. However, in the 2018-19 season, Danmawia finally proved his worth as he netted 8 goals in 19 I-League appearances. After a great season with the Red and Golds in I-League, the Mizo winger was snapped up by Hyderabad FC.
Danmawia only featured in five matches in his debut Indian Super League season, as the Nizams were languishing at the bottom of the points. His minutes were reduced even more in the following season as Manolo Marquez favoured other wingers over the former Aizawl FC star. Danmawia Ralte’s career has come to a standstill. He was once considered as one of the top prospects in the country and now he is struggling to get minutes in the ISL.
The 28-year-old who is predominantly a right-winger but can also slot in on the left side will hope for a better start at NorthEast United in the upcoming season. The highlanders have already extended the contract with Mauritania midfielder Khassa Camara and they are holding talks with several others including Dylan Fox, Deshorn Brown and Federico Gallego who are all set to stay at the club for another season.
