Bengaluru FC head coach Simon Grayson has tipped Gurpreet Singh Sandhu as the best goalkeeper in the Hero Indian Super League. Sandhu has all the experience under his belt and he has delivered the goods for the Blues over the years.
Sandhu has made a total of 266 saves in the total of 97 matches he has played for Bengaluru FC in the Hero ISL. The custodian has been like a wall for Bengaluru FC and he has been instrumental in the success of the team.
“Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is a natural leader, he is the voice in the dressing room and on the pitch. He is the best goalkeeper in Hero ISL”, said Simon Grayson, head coach of Bengaluru FC, while talking to the Hero ISL official website.
On the other hand, veteran defender Sandesh Jihngan who has played a lot of football with Sandhu feels the latter makes the job of defenders easier.
“He makes the job of defenders pretty easy as we do not need to be in two minds while blocking a shot as there is an assurance of him being able to deal with it”, said Gurpreet’s club and national teammate Sandesh Jhingan.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old from Mumbai, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu added his focus has always been to deliver the goods for the team, and its not about personal milestones.
“There is nothing such as personal targets, but if I have to keep one, it is only to help my team achieve the objectives and win games,” added a confident Bengaluru FC goalkeeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who has made 17 saves in the ongoing season for the club.
Bengaluru FC won the Durand Cup earlier in the season. The Blues haven’t gotten off to a great start in the ongoing season of the ISL as they have managed a solitary win in five matches, with one draw and three losses.
Bengaluru FC will next face Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai on Thursday.
