Bengaluru FC assistant coach Renedy Singh feels it wasn’t a perfect win against Hyderabad FC after their 2-1 victory against Hyderabad FC in the 16th match week of the ongoing Indian Super League at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Javi Hernandez scored for the Blues in the 70th minute of the game. But Hyderabad FC’s young Indian winger Ramhlunchhunga equalized for the Nizams in the 80th minute of the game.
However, Narayanan scored the winning goal for the hosts in the 87th minute to help them give three crucial points. The home team had 59.3% possession and took a total of five shots on target.
“We have created many chances in terms that we couldn’t put in. But then the goal that Sivasakthi (Narayanan) scored was also one of the best goals. So I’m really happy with that. But playing-wise, I think we have to show a lot more character,” Singh said in the post-match press conference.
“And this wasn’t our best match, but somehow, we got the three points. We have created so many chances. We have entered the final third, but we couldn’t put it in (the ball into the back of the net). We just have to keep going. But we have to show a lot more character to do well in the future,” he added.
Renedy added that his players must work on transitions during the game to get the desired results in the upcoming matches.
“I think we have to work on the transition from attack to defend and defend to attack,” he said.
“And that’s what we have to work on. We will be playing with much better opponents, and we have to be ready for that. And for that, we have to show the hunger that was missing today,” he continued.
Singh concluded by saying that he wants to see the hunger in his players and give their best on the pitch.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect win. Of course, it’s a good three points,” he commented.
“We have created many chances again. We couldn’t convert that. But what I want to see from our players is their hunger to win and their hunger to fight again, and of course they have played and given their best, but this is just not good enough. So we have to do better, and I’m sure our boys can understand. I believe in them, so they will do well,” he further added.
Bengaluru FC will next take on Kerala Blasters FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday.
