FC Goa have parted ways with their skipper Brandon Fernandes ahead of the Indian Super League 2024-25 season. Fernandes’ contract ended at the conclusion of this season and he is all set to embark on a new journey.
The Indian international made his debut for the Gaurs in 2017 and made a total of 130 appearances for the club across all competitions. FC Goa had extended Fernandes’ contract by three years in 2021.
Fernandes provided 31 assists for FC Goa, which is the most by any player for the club. The midfielder also scored 17 goals for the club in his tenure.
The 29-year-old scored three goals and provided four assists in 20 games of ISL 2023-24 season.
Ravi Puskur, CEO of FC Goa, said, “Brandon wore the badge of FC Goa for seven years with great pride and was a fantastic ambassador for the values the Club stood for on and off the pitch. He became ingrained into the fabric of the Club and was one of the pillars upon which sporting success was built in the seasons he was with us. We will miss him dearly and he will go down as one of the true icons of the Club.
“While he leaves us today, Brandon will always be welcomed back to FC Goa in whatever capacity he may choose with open arms and this Club will always have a special place for him and his family,” he added.
