Chennaiyin FC are delighted to announce that they have signed forward Mirlan Murzaev on a one-year contract. Mirlan has become the first Kyrgyzstan player to sign up in the Hero Indian Super League. The striker will bolster two times champions forward line and he has all the experience under his belt.
Mirlan will work closely with Jobby Justin and Rahim Ali and he will look to bring his best to the table for the club. The 31-year old added that he is happy to join Chennaiyin FC and can’t wait for the training to start and work with his teammates.
“I’m just very very happy to join Chennaiyin FC. I can’t wait for the training, and season to start. I look forward to representing all the fans from Tamil Nadu,” the 31-year-old said.
Mirlan is the leading goal-scorer for his country and he has the second most number of caps for Kyrgyzstan as he has played 48 matches for the national team. In fact, the striker had recently scored a hat-trick against Myanmar when Kyrgyzstan thrashed the opposition by 8-1 and thus he is in good form.
“As a leading scorer of his national team and with 100-plus career goals, the signing of Mirlan gives us a significant attacking boost and solidity in the front. We are pleased to welcome the first-ever player from Kyrgyzstan to Chennaiyin FC and the [Hero] ISL,” CFC co-owner Vita Dani said.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC newly appointed head coach Bozidar Bandovic summed up Mirlan’s signing in two words.
“My thoughts on signing Mirlan are very simple. Two words in fact. Quality. Personality,” CFC’s head coach Bozidar Bandovic said.
Chennai could only win three matches out of the 20 they played and thus had a disappointing previous season. Ergo, the two-time champions will aim to turn the tables in the upcoming season of ISL. The tournament is going to reportedly begin from November 19 in Goa.
