Indian Super League clubs will, from the 2020-2021 season, have a fixed and unchangeable roster of domestic players in their squad as they will not be allowed to bring in reserve and youth team players into the main team during the season.
ISL’s player recruitment guidelines mean that clubs will only be able to register 30 domestic players while the roster can only change through player transfer when the transfer window is active.
However, in order to aid the development of Indian players, ISL has mandated that there must be two Indian developmental players in each team’s 18-player matchday squad with such players born on or after January 1, 2000.
Meanwhile, foreign players can be allowed in a team to at least five players or at most seven players in a 35-player squad.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan’s Suhair VP had appreciated his time under Kibu Vicuna last season at Mohun Bagan in the I-League when they won the title.
“Last season with Mohun Bagan was very good. I played almost all the games and many tournaments. I used to play No 10 or No 9. Kibu (Vicuna) helped me play in the role of a winger as well. He is very supportive. If there are mistakes, he will let you know how to correct them, and I got a lot of experience from playing a lot of games last season. It also filled me with confidence. I learned that in football, you don’t have to play in a single role in a team.” Suhair stated on goal.
The player hailed his coach and teammates in the triumph last season after they won the title with four games to play, although the rest of the season was not concluded due to the coronavirus pandemic, which brought sports to a standstill all over the world.
