Bengaluru FC’s new signing Curtis Main has revealed he wants to win trophies and fans can expect nothing less than 110% from him in the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League 2023-24. The English forward recently signed with the Blues on a one-year deal and wants to give his absolute best to the club.
Main revealed what prompted him to sign up with Bengaluru FC as he had lucrative offers from other clubs as well. Main kicked off his youth career at Sunderland AFC and is a product of the Darlington FC Academy. Furthermore, he recently played for St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC’s former striker Roy Krishna recently joined Odisha FC and thus Main will try to fill in the big shoes of Fijian footballer along with Sunil Chhetri in the forward line.
The 31-year-old from the UK scored nine goals and provided two assists for St Mirren in the 2022-23 season of the Scottish Premiership and thus he will bring a lot of experience to the Bengaluru FC outfit.
“The opportunity to play in a different country has always been an ambition of mine and something I’ve been really keen to experience and learn from,” Main was quoted as saying by Deccan Herald.
“After speaking to numerous clubs around the world and considering all factors, Bengaluru FC stood out. From the positive conversations I had with the manager and the club, and the passion of the fan base, the club as a whole felt like a great fit and somewhere I hope to achieve great things. The culture and the connection between club and supporters is another part of wanting to join this great football club.”
The veteran showered praise on India’s football icon Sunil Chhetri for being a consistent performer for both club and country. Main is also looking forward to getting the best out of young players like Sivasakthi Narayanan.
“I’ve heard a lot of great things about Sunil and I admire anyone that dedicates himself to his profession, playing top level and international football even in the later stages of his career shows just how much desire he has to succeed and that is a mentality we both share,” said Main.
He added: “I’m really looking forward to working with Sivasakthi and hopefully developing a lot of the young talent within the club,” he said.
“I want to win trophies and the fans can expect nothing less than 110% from me,” he stated.
Bengaluru FC had qualified for the final of the ISL in the previous season and they will look to replicate the same performance and even go one step forward.
