Kerala Blasters FC defender Sandeep Singh feels the fans played an instrumental role in his contract extension with the club. Singh will stay with the club till 2027 as per the new deal. Singh joined the Yellow Tuskers back in 2020 and since then has played 57 matches for the club.
Singh has consistently delivered the goods for Kerala Blasters and he will look to keep up the good show. The 29-year-old defender played 15 matches in the previous season of the ISL but could not find the back of the net.
“We played in the thrilling ISL final match of the 2021-22 season (against Hyderabad FC), and in the 2022-23 season, when I scored against Odisha FC. These were my best moments with Kerala Blasters FC,” Singh told Kerala Blasters FC media.
“My main objective is to win both the League Shield and the Cup,” Singh stated as he set his goals for the team upon signing the new contract.
Singh revealed that he shares a strong bond with Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys.
“I believe the relationship over the years has grown quite well, and he (Karolis) is good to everyone. I want to thank the management for giving me this opportunity,” he said.
With Mikael Stahre taking over the coaching baton from Serbia’s Ivan Vukomanovic, Singh is optimistic that the new coaching staff will deliver for the team.
“With the new coaching staff, formation, and style, I think things will go well. I feel that understanding the game and establishing connections among us is beneficial for everyone. I will encourage the youngsters to focus on teamwork because it is key to success.
“I think our squad is strong, especially with the new players. I believe we can achieve our goals,” stated the right-back.
“I want to thank the fans for their support. Their support was one of the main reasons behind me extending my contract. I would tell them to ‘Keep supporting us—your support is our strength,’ Singh commented.
