Indian Super League side East Bengal has signed Scott Neville from A-LEAGUE side Brisbane Roar on loan for the rest of the season.
The defender was a regular face in the Brisbane Roar team last season, making all but two matches in the 2019-20 A-league season as the team finished fourth on the log.
The 31-year old also played in the A-League playoffs, and in total, since joining the club, he made 223 matches in over ten years.
The player stated that the move to India is a new challenge for him in his career.
“India presents a new challenge, and I cannot wait to don the red and gold colors and take the field. There will always be massive expectations from us, and I am aware of that. I can assure the fans that we will leave no stone unturned in our bid to strive for excellence. I would like to thank the Brisbane Roar Football Club also for making this move possible,” Neville said in a statement.
According to Prashant Bangur, Joint Managing Director, Shree Cement, he said Scott brings a lot of experience to the team with over 200 matches for the Australians in 12 years.
Shree Cement Limited is the new investor for East Bengal, having taken over the club after Quess Corp withdrew from investing in the club in July.
They become the eleventh team to participate in the India Super League this season, following in the footsteps of their rivals Mohun Bagan who merged with ATK after winning the I-League last season.
The team appointed Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler as their new head coach, Renedy Singh a former while former India international was appointed as the assistant coach for the team.
