Jamshedpur FC are in touching distance to create history as they take on ATK Mohun Bagan in the penultimate clash with the ISL League winner’s shield up for grabs. Jamshedpur FC apparently need to draw the game or lose by just a goal against the Green and Maroons. A win is what they will be aiming for considering their rampant form this season. However, a big loss of over two goals can turn the tide in ATK Mohun Bagan’s favour.
The Men of Steel are coming to this game on the back of a dominant 5-1 win against Odisha FC and head coach Owen Coyle will hope that his men can continue that intensity going into the most crucial game of the current campaign.
The Men of Steel like other seasons have had their hurdles but the players have shown unreal willpower to make every hurdle look small as they overcame one by one. Coyle has credited the team’s mentality and willpower to fight their way through odds and cope with every situation on the playing field.
“Within all those games that we’ve played, as much as we’ve won games, there are always moments and games that’ll be challenging. There have been games where we’ve been held back and we had to get back into those games by seeing our way through because when you play strong teams, there are always periods in the game where the other team is at an advantage and we have to try to manage those situations in the best way possible,” the Scotsman said ahead of facing ATK Mohun Bagan in the penultimate league game.
Owen Coyle highlights how excited they are as a team to play this match against the Mariners as they have worked very hard as a unit and deserve this success that is coming their way under the tutelage of Owen Coyle. The Scotsman believes that they can stretch their unbeaten run for one more game at least and g toe to toe against ATK Mohun Bagan.
Everybody in this football club is excited for this game because everyone has worked ever so hard to put ourselves into the position we are in. But we also know that we’re about to play some wonderful opponents who have fantastic individual players and an outstanding team who have been on such a long unbeaten streak. It’s the best they’ve ever played in the league and full credit to them for that. We have a chance of finishing in the #1 position and so does ATK Mohun Bagan, so we want to see it through and go on to give our best performance because if we do that, then we know we can win such tough games,” Coyle shared.
Lastly, this has been a fantastic year for Indian players at Jamshedpur FC. Just like Greg Stewart, Daniel Chima, Peter Hartley or others the likes of Laldinliana Renthlei, Jitendra Singh, Boris Singh, Ritwik Das, etc. have also worked very hard this season and hence they are in this position fighting for the ISL Shield.
I am very much delighted with all my players regardless of them being foreign players or domestic ones because it’s not about individual players but it’s a result of collective effort. Of course, in this season the number of foreigners was reduced to 4 which gave another Indian player an opportunity to be on the pitch, which has been great for us because all our players have been doing really well,” Coyle signed off.
