Jamshedpur FC Overpowers Mohammedan SC in Commanding 3-1 Win

Jamshedpur FC returned to winning form with a dominant 3-1 victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday. Goals from Mohammed Sanan, Javier Siverio, and Stephen Eze sealed the triumph, while Mohammed Irshad scored a late consolation for the visitors.

The match began at a measured pace, with both teams taking time to find their rhythm. Jamshedpur gradually gained control, and Imran Khan’s deft through ball to Javier Siverio in the first half set the tone for the host’s attacking intent. Although Siverio missed the target on that occasion, his aerial prowess and movement kept Mohammedan SC’s defense under constant pressure.

Mohammedan SC, grappling with injuries to key midfielders Mirjalol Kasimov and Alexis Gomez, struggled to establish creativity. In their absence, Jamshedpur midfielders Rei Tachikawa and Javi Hernandez bypassed the opposition with ease.

The visitor’s early setback worsened when Gaurav Bora limped off injured, forcing Joseph Adjei, himself recovering from an injury, into action.

The second half burst to life with more attacking intensity. Despite threatening runs from Mohammedan SC’s Franca and Remsanga, the final ball eluded the visitors. Against the run of play, Jamshedpur broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute.

Siverio’s aerial duel initiated a swift counterattack, with Rei Tachikawa releasing Mohammed Sanan. The young winger showed composure, shaking off his marker and firing a powerful shot into the top-right corner to give Jamshedpur the lead.

Jamshedpur doubled their advantage in the 61st minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error by Bhaskar Roy. The Mohammedan SC keeper spilled a corner delivery, allowing Siverio to pounce and slot home from close range.

The relentless Red Miners continued their dominance, and Stephen Eze added a third in the 79th minute. A chaotic sequence in the box ended with the Nigerian defender smashing the ball into the net.

Substitute Jordan Murray made a brief return from injury, but Mohammedan SC found some consolation late in the game. Mohammed Irshad headed in a Zodingliana Ralte free-kick in the 88th minute, reducing the deficit to 3-1.

The visitors had a golden chance to close the gap further when they were awarded a penalty, but Jamshedpur goalkeeper Albino Gomes denied Franca, registering his sixth ISL penalty save and preserving the scoreline.

With this victory, Jamshedpur secured its fifth win of the season, boosting morale and reaffirming its competitive edge in the league.
