India international forward Seiminlen Doungel is all set to join Jamshedpur FC permanently according to reports on Goal.
Right at the start of the last Indian Super League season, Seiminlen Doungel was a part of the FC Goa squad. He was on the roster to add experience to the likes of Redeem Tlang, Romario Jesuraj and others. However, as the season went on things did not go down well with Doungel as he only made seven appearances and only three were starts. He was not getting the desired game time that he was seeking with the Gaurs.
Therefore he persuaded FC Goa to loan him away to Jamshedpur FC where he was more valued mainly because of Owen Coyle’s liking of pacy wingers. Suddenly Doungel started getting more minutes and was involved in most of the attacking buildups for the Men of Steel. He played in eight matches and was a regular starter at the back end of the ISL season. He also scored a goal in their final match of the ISL season in a 3-2 victory against Bengaluru FC.
Goal understands that the Manipuri winger has made up his mind to stay at Jamshedpur FC for the next season. Hence he will be looking to make his loan move permanent and represent the Men of Steel from the start of the upcoming ISL season. Considering the options that FC Goa have right now it should not be much of a problem for Juan Ferrando and his men.
Jamshedpur FC had a mixed bag season last time out as they started poorly against Chennaiyin FC but then caught up with the top teams. During the break they were in the top four and were touted to reach their maiden playoffs, However, the break disturbed their rhythm and they faltered and eventually finished sixth in the points table. In order to increase their playoffs chances, Coyle made some changes as he brought in some players during the January transfer window. He resigned Farukh Chaudhury from Mumbai City FC in a deal that saw Jackichand Singh go the other way. He also brought in Seiminlen Doungel on loan and also signed former India U-17 international Boris Singh Thangjam.
They have been active in the off-season as they look to strengthen the weak areas before the upcoming season. The Men of Steel has already allowed Aniket Jadhav to join Hyderabad FC and are close to signing another former India U-17 international in Komal Thatal and experienced defender in Anas Edathodika from ATK Mohun Bagan
So now with Seiminlen Doungel added permanently to this roster makes Jamshedpur FC look very threatening on the flanks.
