Jamshedpur FC have reinforced their attacking options by securing the services of 23-year-old Manvir Singh on a season-long deal. The former India U19 striker, who hails from Punjab, joins from NorthEast United FC, bringing youth, experience, and versatility to the squad.
Having represented India at various youth levels, Singh is seen as a promising talent, and his signing has generated excitement among Jamshedpur fans ahead of the new Indian Super League (ISL) season.
Manvir’s footballing journey began in Punjab, where his talent was spotted early during his academy days. His skills earned him a spot in the U17 World Cup Camp, and he went on to represent India in the U19 category at the OFC Development Tournament held in Vanuatu.
Additionally, he was part of the AFC U19 Qualifiers squad in 2018, competing in Saudi Arabia. His steady development through these youth competitions has positioned him as one of India’s rising football talents.
Over the years, Manvir has carved out a professional career with stints at several prominent clubs. He began his professional journey at Ozone FC, where he made an immediate impact by scoring three goals in just eight appearances. His sharp goal-scoring instincts and versatility, capable of playing both as a winger and a striker, have made him a valuable asset for the teams he has represented.
A brief spell at Kerala Blasters FC saw him loaned to Indian Arrows during the 2019-20 I-League season, a move that provided crucial first-team experience. Manvir spent the last three seasons at NorthEast United FC, where he had loan spells at Delhi FC and FC Bengaluru United, further honing his skills.
Expressing his excitement about the new challenge, Manvir said, “I am thrilled to sign for Jamshedpur FC, one of the top clubs in the country. I’m eager to make an impact and start a new chapter in my career. The support from the coaching staff has been incredible, and I truly believe the team can achieve great things in the league.”
Manvir’s arrival at Jamshedpur comes as part of the club’s effort to build a competitive squad ahead of the upcoming ISL season. Known for his goal-scoring ability and positional flexibility, he is expected to play a key role in Khalid Jamil’s plans.
Jamil, the head coach of Jamshedpur FC, was full of praise for the young forward, stating, “Manvir is an exciting young player with great versatility. He can play both as a striker and winger, and his strong, determined playing style makes him a valuable addition to our squad. What stands out about Manvir is his eagerness to learn and improve, making him a player with immense potential.”
Coming from a footballing family, Manvir’s development was shaped by his early training at the Chandigarh Football Academy, a well-known institution that has produced several Indian football stars. His background and grounding in the sport have given him a solid foundation to succeed at the highest level.
For Jamshedpur FC, the signing of Manvir Singh signals their intent to challenge for honours this season. His ability to score and create opportunities in front of goal could prove pivotal as the team looks to improve on their performances from last season.
The added versatility he offers—being able to play both centrally and on the wings—gives the team more tactical flexibility, something that Jamil will likely leverage as they prepare for a competitive ISL campaign.
Jamshedpur FC will open their ISL campaign with an away fixture against FC Goa on September 17, before returning home to face Mumbai FC at the JRD Sports Complex on September 21. With the new additions to the squad and a promising young player like Manvir, fans will be hopeful that the team can make a strong start to the season and challenge for a place at the top of the league standings.
As Manvir looks to make his mark at Jamshedpur FC, all eyes will be on him to see if he can live up to the potential he has shown in his young career and help his new team achieve success in the upcoming season.
