Kerala Blasters have added Vicente Gomez to its squad ahead of the 2020-2021 India Super League season.
The midfielder will add depth and experience to the Kerala Blasters midfield as they go into the seventh season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Gomez was previously with Las Palmas in Spain between 2010 and 2018, captaining the side in La Liga before moving to Deportivo La Coruna, where he spent two years before moving to India.
The 32-year-old defensive midfielder made 223 appearances for Las Palmas, and he also made 59 appearances for Deportivo.
Recently appointed manager Kibu Vicuna will have highly talented youngsters like Sahal Abdul Samad, Arjun Jayaraj, Givson Singh, Ritwik Das, Rohit Kumar experienced Seityasen Singh in his squad for the new season.
Sergio Cidoncha remains a part of the team for the new season has been the only foreign retained from last season.
The team ended last season in seventh-place under Eelco Schattorie.
Kerala Blasters will face ATK Mohun Bagan on November 20 in their opening game of the season. All matches will be played behind closed doors in Goa as means of curbing COVID-19.
The I-League will kick off on January 9, 2021, behind closed doors in West Bengal, the qualifiers were played last month, and Mohammedan Sporting emerged winner and will feature in the top flight for the first time in several years.
Sudeva FC will also feature after East Bengal, and Mohun Bagan moved into the India Super League.
Teams are already playing friendlies in Goa in preparation for the 2020-2021 India Super League season.
Meanwhile, in the I-League, Gokulam Kerala has started preparations ahead of the new season in Kozhikode, Kerala, following the Standard Operation Procedures of the All India Football Federation regarding the coronavirus.
