Mohun Bagan has revealed that it will pay the backlog of salaries of their players in two installments.
The I-League champions will pay the first installment on 30th June while the second installment will be on or before 20th July.
According to the details of a letter sent to players and signed by the duo of Debashish Dutta and Srinjoy Bose, senior officials, bonuses for winning the 2019-20 I-League season will also be paid.
“As per our commitment, we will be clearing all the dues to the players in the near future. We propose to pay 50 percent of your pending salaries by 30th June 2020 and the rest 50 percent on or before 20th July 2020. We will also process the bonuses within 15 days of receiving the prize money and season subsidies from AIFF (All India Football Federation).
We are following up on this issue with AIFF on a regular basis. We thank you for your patience and once again a big congratulations to us all for winning the I League 2019-20.” the statement read according to goal.
Earlier in May, players of the club had written to the club administrators, threatening to approach the All India Football Federation, as regards their salaries, which haven’t been paid in the last three months while their foreign players are owed for the last month.
Meanwhile, Debashish Dutta, the club’s senior official, told newsmen that lockdown restrictions in Mumbai because of the coronavirus pandemic had affected the club’s economic plans, but with the lockdown measures being eased, the club will now pay up the players.
After winning the I-League with four games to spare, Mohun Bagan will now play in the India Super League next season as ATK-Mohun Bagan after reaching a deal with the India Super League champions.
