Naushad Moosa, Bengaluru’s FC assistant coach Naushad Moosa has inked a new three year deal with the club, which will keep him in the team’s coaching staff till 2024. Moosa, an AFC Pro-Licensed coach who has been at the helm of the Blues’ Youth Development Programme along with being part of the coaching staff with the senior team, will now exclusively be assistant coach to Marco Pezzaiuoli.
Moosa had worked as an assistant coach to Carles Cuadrat in 2019-20 and he will now provide assistance to new coach Marco Pezzaiuoli. In fact, Moosa also led the team as interim head coach and stated that he learned a lot during that stint.
“I’m really glad to commit my future to Bengaluru FC for three more years. In the time I have spent here, we have seen many young players come through the ranks, and in the last year especially, many of them have knocked on the doors of the senior team. I am looking forward to now seeing them cement their place, and hopefully represent the national team as well,” said Moosa, who joined Bengaluru FC in 2017.
“Last season I had the opportunity of leading the senior team as interim head coach and I don’t think I’ve learned as much in five years as I have in those five months. I’ve also spent the last few months working very closely with Marco and it has been an education that I am looking to further build upon with this role,” he added.
In fact, Moosa played for clubs like Air India, Churchill Brothers, East Bengal FC, Mahindra United and Mohammed Sporting during his career which lasted for 12 years. Thus, Moosa has all the experience both as a former player and coach.
“We’ve all been able to see Moosa’s growth as a coach in the four years that he’s been here. We have achieved a lot that we set out to initially, in terms of player development and progression. A lot of our players are graduating into the first team, and it was an easy decision for us to hand him this extension,” said club CEO Mandar Tamhane.
Bengaluru FC had finished at the seventh place in the previous season of ISL and they had failed to qualify for the semi-finals. Thus, the Blues will look to turn the tables in the next season under the tutelage of Marco Pezzaiuoli and Naushad Moosa.
