Odisha FC have strengthened their midfield ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season by completing the signing of experienced Georgian international Giorgi Aburjania.
The 31-year-old arrives at the Juggernauts after spending the 2025-26 campaign with Saudi Arabian club Jeddah SC. He becomes Odisha FC’s third foreign signing of the summer following the arrivals of Manu Molina and Stephen Eze.
Aburjania brings considerable international and club experience to Odisha, having played across several European leagues during a career that began in his native Georgia.
The midfielder started his senior journey with Metalurgi Rustavi before representing FC Dila and Lokomotivi Tbilisi. His performances at home eventually earned him a move to Cyprus, where he joined Anorthosis Famagusta in 2014.
Two years later, Aburjania moved to Spain with Gimnàstic de Tarragona. He subsequently joined Sevilla FC and initially featured for Sevilla Atlético, the club’s reserve team. His time in Spanish football also included loan spells at CD Lugo and Real Oviedo.
Aburjania expanded his experience further by spending the 2019-20 season with FC Twente in the Netherlands. He later returned to Spain with FC Cartagena before joining Portuguese side Gil Vicente in 2021.
Spells with Türkiye’s Hatayspor and Portuguese club AVS followed before he signed for Jeddah SC in September 2025.
The midfielder also arrives with significant international pedigree. After representing Georgia at U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels, Aburjania made his senior international debut against Kazakhstan in March 2016. He has since collected 39 senior caps and scored once for his country.
Capable of operating as a deeper midfielder or in a more advanced position, Aburjania offers Odisha FC versatility as well as physical presence and experience in the middle of the pitch.
His arrival is the latest move in a busy transfer window for the Juggernauts. Odisha have also brought in Nihal Sudeesh, Imran Khan, Sachin Suresh, Aashir Salim, Arjun MM and Nandhakumar Sekar as part of their squad rebuild.
Meanwhile, Hugo Boumous, Carlos Delgado and Isak Ralte have departed the club.
With Molina, Eze and now Aburjania added to their foreign contingent, Odisha FC are continuing to reshape their squad as they prepare for the new ISL campaign.
