Indian Super League (ISL) club Punjab FC have strengthened their midfield by signing Mohammad Inam on a two-year contract, with the agreement set to keep the midfielder at the club until May 31, 2028.
The Jammu & Kashmir-born footballer joins the Shers from Real Kashmir FC, where he served as captain during the 2025-26 Indian Football League season. Inam arrives after establishing himself as one of the key figures in the Srinagar-based side across two spells with the club.
During his time at Real Kashmir, the midfielder made 53 appearances, scoring six goals and providing two assists. His consistent performances and leadership qualities eventually earned him the captain’s armband, making him one of the club’s standout performers in the 2025-26 campaign.
Born and raised in Jammu & Kashmir, Inam began playing football at the age of 10. His early promise was recognised when the All India Football Federation invited him for the AFC U-16 national team trials after he impressed while progressing through Real Kashmir’s youth setup.
Inam started his senior career with Lonestar Kashmir before moving to Delhi FC in 2021. During his time with Delhi FC, he featured in both the I-League Qualifiers and the Durand Cup, gaining valuable experience at the senior level.
He later represented Real Kashmir and Downtown Heroes before returning to Real Kashmir for a second spell. Upon his return, Inam became a central figure in midfield, helping drive the team’s performances and eventually taking on the responsibility of leading the side as captain.
The move to Punjab FC marks another significant step in the midfielder’s career as he prepares to compete in the Indian Super League for the first time. The club will hope his experience, leadership and composure in midfield will add depth and stability to the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Inam expressed his delight at joining Punjab FC and the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his career.
“I’m excited to wear the Punjab FC colours. This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m looking forward to giving everything on the pitch and creating special memories with the team and our supporters,” Inam said following the announcement of his move.
If you’d like, I can also make it read more like a newspaper match report or a feature story.
