Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti feels his team should be worried after a 3-1 loss against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League despite playing at home on Tuesday. Malick Thiaw scored from a header in the 12th minute but Vini Jr equalized for the Los Blancos in the 23rd minute after he scored from a spot kick.
However, Alvaro Morata and Tijani Rejinders scored for the Italian club to help them register a 3-1 win.
“We should be worried because the team isn’t playing well,” Ancelotti told Movistar. “We have to be more solid, more compact. We’ve conceded a lot of goals.”
After this loss, the defending UCL champions find themselves in the middle of the standings while they trail Barcelona by nine points in the La Liga but have one extra match in hand.
Ancelotti feels their defense hasn’t been up to the mark as they are conceding far too many goals than they ideally should.
“It isn’t about being patient or not, the reality is what you see on the pitch, which is that we’re missing something,” Ancelotti said in his post-match news conference. “Worry in these moments is normal. It will be a long night, but that’s what we have to do, think, all of us, about improving things.
“We’ve conceded nine goals [in three games] and that’s too many for a team which built its strength on solidity.”
Real Madrid took ten shots on target against AC Milan but failed to grab their chances. Ancelotti feels they haven’t been clinical enough.
“We had a lot of chances,” he said. “The problem for me isn’t that. Probably we lacked being clinical, but the main problem we have to fix is how easily our opponents are creating opportunities.
Madrid will next take on Osasuna on Saturday.
