Indian Super League outfit Bengaluru FC continue their revamp for the upcoming season as reports in Brazil suggest that they have signed a defender named Alan Costa.
According to local journalist Rodrigo Faraco of NSC Total media, Bengaluru FC have signed Costa on a two year loan deal from Serie B club Avai FC. He began his football career at Associacao Ferroviaria de Espartos and has stints all over Brazil. The 30-year-old is a sturdy centre back and will look to provide support to Yrondu Musavu King who joined the Blues during the winter transfer window.
The 30-yer-old has had stints with Club Internacional’s junior team and later as he grew in stature he was promoted to the first team. He then joined Clube Vitoria on loan. He then plied his trade for clubs like Coritiba FC, Sportivo Alagoano and his recent club Avai FC. He has mostly featured in the top two tiers of Brazilian football.
Speaking of his current form, Alan Costa is a regular starter for Avai FC. The club are currently in the tenth position with three wins and as many losses and a single draw. They have struggled due to inconsistency. Incidentally the 30-year-old Brazilian registered his name on the scoresheet today in his team’s 3-1 win over Londrina Esporte Clube. This was costa’s first goal of the new season as he looks like a towering presence in the penalty area.
If Costa joins Bengaluru FC then he will bring in a lot of experience to Indian shores. The Brazilian centre back has never plied his trade outside his homeland so there will be a slight issue adapting to a new country, culture and league. Apart from that, he looks like a composed defender who can bring in a lot of stability at the back. However, whether he can replace Juanan Gonzalez or not is to be seen.
The biggest challenge of the centre back will be getting accustomed to a new country especially when he has played his entire career in Brazil. However, he has the experience of playing at a very top level and will hopefully add immense value to head coach Marco Pezzaiouli’s team for their upcoming quest in the Indian Super League.
