Jamshedpur FC defender Pratik Chaudhari has revealed the team’s target is to win the ongoing Hero Super Cup. The Red Miners registered a convincing 5-3 win against FC Goa in their opening game of the Hero Super Cup 2023 at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on Monday.
Chaudhari played a key role in the team’s comprehensive win against the Gaurs and he would want to carry the good show in the upcoming matches. The 33-year-old is delighted that they made a good start in the tournament against FC Goa.
“I’m very happy that we won (against FC Goa) by a big margin. It was much-needed to have a good start to the Super Cup, especially after the (Hero ISL) season we just had, which wasn’t the best,” Pratik told AIFF media.
Meanwhile, FC Goa’s Noah Sadaoui scored in the fifth minute to put his team in front but the Red Miners bounced back after Pratik Chaudhari scored.
“I’m happy to score after a long time. I’ve been working on it. It was a very good ball from Rafa. I just had to get in and put my head there,” he said.
In fact, this is the second stint for Chaudhari at Jamshedpur FC as he had signed for the club back in 2018-19. The defender acknowledged that the team’s environment has been great over the year.
“There’s not much difference in the Jamshedpur FC setup five years ago and now. It was a top professional club back then and still is now. They have maintained their standards well in terms of facilities, pitches, accommodation and basically everything like how it’s supposed to be,” explained Chaudhari.
Meanwhile, Chaudhari has all the experience under his belt at the top level as he has played for multiple clubs in his 12-year career so far.
“Every club has given me a good experience. I’ve learned a lot from the players I’ve played with and the coaches I’ve played under. I try to use all my experience for my current club, do my best and try and get some silverware for the club,” he said.
“The target is to win the Super Cup. Simple. We take one game at a time. Now our focus shifts to the next one against ATK Mohun Bagan. We’ll recover for a couple of days and then do it all over again,” Chaudhari concluded.
Jamshedpur FC will next lock horns against the ISL champions ATK Mohun Bagan on Friday at the EMS Stadium.
