The much-awaited FIFA World Cup 2022 will kick off in Qatar on November 20. The hosts Qatar will play the opening game of the tournament against Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium. This will be the 22nd edition of the World Cup as 32 teams will battle it out for the glory.
It is expected to be the last World Cup of big players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In fact, the Argentine captain has already confirmed that it will be his last World Cup.
Meanwhile, France is the defending champions of the World Cup. Teams like Argentina, France, Germany, England, Brazil, Belgium, and Portugal will enter the tournament as favorites.
The FIFA World Cup final will be played on December 18 at 8.30 PM ISL. A total of 64 matches will be played among the 32 teams over the course of 29 days in Qatar.
There are eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams from every group will advance to the Round of 16. In fact, the FIFA World Cup is mostly played in the May-June period but this time’s edition was postponed to November-December to avoid Qatar’s scorching temperature.
