“We are going into the new season with the dream of winning the title,” says Kerala Blasters midfielder Adrian Luna

Adrian Luna has really gelled up well with the fans and the management at Kerala Blasters FC within a year. The Uruguayan has changed the perception of the club as they now know that with Luna on their side they can fight for titles and even top the league phase. The Uruguayan versatile midfielder can excel in multiple roles and he has already shown glimpses of that in the last season.

While Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Alvaro Vazquez have left the Kerala Blasters to join Mumbai City FC and FC Goa respectively, Luna has stayed on to write history with the Yellow Army which they missed by a whisker last season as they lost on penalties against Hyderabad FC. He is determined to win the title this time and want to fulfill the unfulfilled dream from last season.

“We enter the field for the Hero ISL 2022-2023 season with the dream of winning the title. What was lost last season must be gained this time. For the hope the fans and management have placed in the club, we just need to deliver a good result. The entire team is on a journey to achieve that goal,” Luna said in his interaction with Samayam.

Luna enjoyed a great partnership with Sahal Abdul Samad who had a breakthrough season last time out as he developed a great partnership with Luna and together they were massive in midfield for the Blasters. The Uruguayan had a total of 13 goal contributions which included six goals and seven assists. However Luna’s workrate is something that people dont talk often as he raked up 98 tackles, 38 blocks, 33 interceptions, and six clearances defensively.

“It was a great experience to be able to form a partnership with Sahal Abdul Samad in the midfield last season. The success of the last season was because the alliances suggested by the coach could be implemented on the field. It was a great combination with Sahal Abdul Samad,” he added.

After last season, head coach Ivan Vukomanovic has brought in replacements in the form of Greek forward Dimitrios Diamantakos and Greek-Australian attacker Apostolos Giannou. The Greek connection in attack is something very interesting for the Blasters this season but Luna is very hopeful that the two new forwards will be able to deliver for the South Indian club.

“There is no doubt that the presence of Greek star Dimitrios Diamantakso and Australian-Greek Apostolos Giannou in the forward line will influence the outcome of the match for Kerala Blasters FC. They are capable of making good results in the new season. They also have great experience in international arenas,” said Luna.

This year we will be seeing a new look Kerala Blasters led by their very own Ivan Vukomanovic. With Adrian Luna coming to this season with more determination, the Blasters are ready to soar high as they aim for the title.
