ATK Mohun Bagan are probably going to face the biggest fixture of their Indian Super League season against current league leaders Hyderabad FC. The Mariners have to win to stay well in contention for the playoffs or else things will get bleak for Juan Ferrando and his men from here.
The last time when these two sides met David Williams scored within 12 seconds but it was not enough as ultimately Javier Siverio scored a late equaliser to restore parity in a 2-2 draw. They will be looking to notch a win this time as they are six points away having played two games less than the Nizams.
Ahead of the match head coach Juan Ferrando shared how he has a plan against the Nizams and expect his team to play the similar way that they have been playing till now.
“Of course, we have a plan. But our style is known to everybody. We try to keep the ball, we try to find the spaces and attack them,” Ferrando began the pre-match post-conference.
While people expect things to be a repeat of the first leg of the campaign, the Spanish tactician feels that the match may be different from the last clash as the teams have gone through a lot over the last few weeks including quarantine and injuries.
“The game against Hyderabad FC will be different from the last one. All the teams have had to change some aspects of their game, including tactics, players involved etc. because of quarantine and injuries,” Ferrando added.
ATK Mohun Bagan took a 1-0 lead against Mumbai City FC in their previous ISL clash but an own goal from Pritam Kotal meant that the Islanders salvaged a point from that fixture. Ferrando was very upset with the 1-1 draw as he felt that there were countess chances to put that game to bed but the Mariners simply were not clinical enough.
“To be honest, I was very upset with the draw. In my point of view, we had clear chances of putting the game to bed and get the important 3 points. But this is football,” he concluded.
The Spanish tactician is hopeful that ATK Mohun Bagan can find a way to win against the inform Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League.
