Hockey India Names 33-Member Core Group for Senior Men’s National Camp Ahead of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

Hockey India on Monday announced a 33-member core probable list for the senior men’s national coaching camp, set to take place at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bengaluru from September 29 to October 18, 2025. The camp serves as vital preparation for two upcoming international assignments — the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in November and a challenging tour of South Africa soon after.

The players arrive at camp riding high on their recent success at the Hero Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, where India lifted the trophy and secured a direct qualification for the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026. The team’s unbeaten run at the tournament has laid a strong foundation for future campaigns.

Chief coach Craig Fulton, reflecting on the team’s recent achievements and upcoming goals, said, “Winning the Asia Cup and securing World Cup qualification was an important milestone for us, but it is only the beginning. The players have come back into camp with renewed hunger, and now our focus shifts fully to preparing tactically.”

The 33-player group includes a strong mix of experienced campaigners and emerging talent across all positions. The goalkeeping unit features Krishan B Pathak, Suraj Karkera, Pawan, and Mohith Honnenahalli Shashikumar — all of whom have been consistent figures in the setup.

In defence, stalwarts like Harmanpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas are joined by young prospects such as Sanjay, Yashdeep Siwach, and Amandeep Lakra, indicating a focus on grooming the next generation.

The midfield continues to be India’s backbone with names like Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, and Hardik Singh leading the charge, complemented by the dynamic presence of Nilakanta Sharma and Mohammed Raheel Mouseen.

The forward line promises depth and flair, with the inclusion of Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh, and Dilpreet Singh, alongside younger faces like Selvam Karthi and Aditya Arjun Lalage.

The camp marks the beginning of India’s tactical and physical fine-tuning for what promises to be a crucial end-of-year period. With sights set on dominating the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup and gaining valuable international exposure in South Africa, the Bengaluru camp will play a key role in sharpening team cohesion and execution.

The upcoming months are expected to test India’s depth and readiness as they move from continental success to tougher global competition.
