Indian boxer Vijender Singh has given his thoughts as regards the ongoing pandemic outbreak disease saying plans have been jettisoned all thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak, .but he is still very much hopeful of resuming his career in the latter part of the second half of the year.
The pugilist has remained unbeaten in the ring with 12 wins and stays top-ranked in the Bob Arum’s promotions in the United States, which after Italy remains one of the most plagued by the virus with over 10,000 casualties.
Vijender Singh, who remains the first Indian to win a medal in the Olympics, said he was supposed to fight in May, but such plans have been canceled due to the current situation across the globe. ” I am optimistic things will get back to normal, and I will get to fight later in the year, and I am hopeful it will work out.”
The 34-year old went on and said: ” as things are now, I am obviously at a loss, but there’s nothing one can do to change that; you just have to make peace with it and wait for things to get back to normal. ”
The boxer has been continuing his training to keep himself fit and be in top shape at his home in Delhi. He revealed he’s got everything at home to ensure he doesn’t need to step out.” I’ve been training all alone at home, which is something I do very well because I have the training kits and equipment when I am in England.
“The idea is to keep my body in the best shape whenever I get back into action, and I am doing this at home since we can’t go out due to the government orders.”
Vijender is hoping to get his Machester based trainer Lee Beard who will join him few weeks before his bout.
