The World saw Mike Tyson step back into the Ring (probably one last time) in what was really more of an exhibition Fight against Jake Paul last week and that broke the Internet and Netflix! Whilst it had a Legend looking for a last hurrah, the current Edition of UPB will see two seasoned Fighters looking for redemptions of their own kind. Saurabh would be looking to come back stronger after his uninspiring defeat to Marlon Tapales in the WBC Asian Continental Title whilst Banty Singh would be looking to continue his come-back after two back-to-back losses.
The Main Fight of the night is between Saurabh Kumar and Shiva Kumar in the Super Bantamweight category for 8 Rounds. Saurabh was quite chastened by his loss to Tapales in Cambodia in September and would like to bounce back to winning ways at the earliest. Shiva Kumar may come across as a walkover but he is anything but. He will surely give Saurabh a run for his money and Saurabh can’t expect an easy pass-over to a win in this one.
The first of the two Co-Main Fights of the night is between Banty Singh and Hans Raj for 6 Rounds in the Super Featherweight category. Banty has had one of the strangest careers on the circuit, starting with four losses followed up with 9 wins on the trot, before the juggernaut was strangely stopped by Shivam earlier in May. Though he bounced back from his subsequent loss in Almaty in June with a win in August, the scars of those losses can only be filled with rebuilding his streak of wins, now against Hans Raj, who made his comeback to the Ring in April this year after an almost 3-year hiatus. This Bout will be an interesting watch for the Fight Fans.
The other Co-Main Fight is another 6-Round clash between Harsh Saroha and Nashib Rathi. Harsh has been on a winning streak since his highly contested tie with Sandeep at the start of this year. He is considered one of the most promising Prospects in the division and would not want to take Nashib lightly, who though has had two losses, is quite a driven young fellow from Bhiwani, Haryana – also known as min-Cuba, for the number of Boxers it produces, who as his Coach says, simply refuses to give up on his dream of becoming a high-level Boxer.
The Featherweight Fight for 4-Rounds between Ashish Kumar and Nand Lal shall be anything but one-sided. Ashish is coming to this one with two back-to-back TKO wins this year, after a forgettable 2023, which brought all his 4 losses and a highly controversial draw against Amarnath in Mumbai. He would go all guns blazing against Nand Lal in order to make it a comeback year for himself and would not leave any stone unturned to secure a win. Nand Lal, who went toe-to-toe with Harsh in his last Bout, would want to improve on that performance too.
The opening Bout of the night between debutant Manav Sati and prospect Nitin Tanwar for 4-Rounds in the Lightweight category could be an explosive start to the proceedings of the evening. Nitin was chastened by his TKO loss to Vishal in March and came back with a decisive win, 6 months later and would do whatever it takes to maintain his win record. Manav is coming from some quality wins in the Amateur circuit last year and now has a quality opponent to open his Professional journey against. This Fight has the potential to surprise a lot of Fans on the day.
Among the earlier of the two heavier Contests, Bhavesh and Mukesh go head-to-head for 4-Rounds in the Middleweight category. Bhavesh has high-level Amateur experience with participations in State and National level competitions whilst Mukesh has a quality record of 27 wins and 9 losses in the Amateur circuit along with a win in an unsanctioned Professional Bout in Thailand also, whose experience he would want to count on, in order to open his account now.
The 4-Round Cruiserweight contest between debutant Amit Singh and Bajrangi Kumar would be worth a watch as Amit, being a champion Boxer in the Amateur circuit, would want to open his Professional account with a comprehensive win against Bajrangi, who is coming back to the Ring after a hiatus of more than two and a half years. Another comeback story of the night.
This event is going to see Boxers going for glory and also seek their own redemptions in careers, each with a story to write of their own. An exhilarating night of Boxing awaits the fans, who would surely want to lap up the action from the very first round, starting at 5:30 pm India time.
