UPB Fight Club to churn out its 23rd edition in Mumbai on the 11th of January 2025, with some up and coming local talents looking forward to make their names on the circuit. This is UPB’s second sojourn in the city of dreams and hope is for it to become the next home after Delhi.
The Main Fight of the Night is the Super Flyweight clash between Prasad Katnoor and Shubham Chauhan for 6 Rounds. Both Prasad and Shubham had their respective Bouts on UPB Fight Club’s 12th edition one and a half year ago but had very different results. Shubham had got his first win against Vinay whilst Prasad tasted defeat against a much superior Shanborlang. Since then, both of their journeys have been fairly chequered and hence both would want to start the new year with a win. Shubham is usually an aggressive starter and prefers to beat down his opponent at the start whilst Prasad prefers to wait and watch before hitting through some openings he finds. The contrasting styles would make for a good watch for the Fight Fans.
The Co-Main Fight between Amey Nitin and Harendra Singh Khangharot is a 6-Round duel in the Super Lightweight category. Amey last fought on UPB Fight Club more than 2 years ago in its 8 Edition and lost comprehensively to Rakesh. Since then, he has had 5 Bouts with 3 wins and 2 losses. Amey’s problem has always been less gas in the tank and if he can get over that problem, he should be well on his way to his 11th win. However, if Harendra springs a surprise with his hard-hitting punches and Amey suffers his 10th loss, it could easily be curtains for his career. This underlying context would make this contest quite thrilling to watch for the audience.
The Cruiserweight duel between Jayesh Pandey and Pushpak Varma for 4 Rounds would allow the audience to see action from the heavier weight class. These Fights are normally slower and more tactical than slam-bam seen in the lighter weight classes. This is the 2nd episode of the same Fight which had happened a year ago in Kolkata, which Pushpak had won with a TKO. Since then, Pushpak has had 2 losses and so has Jayesh. Thus, this rematch, whether it would become a battle of revival for Pushpak or a battle for redemption for Jayesh, makes it worthwhile.
The 4-Round clash between Abhinandan Singh and Ayush Singh in the Featherweight category is one of the unpredictable Bouts of the evening. Abhinandan has had a winning start to his career whereas Ayush has had a mixed bag of results since his winning start, and particularly in the last Fight against Shivam, where he came up against an extremely determined Boxer who fought his heart out despite not being his 100%. Thus, Ayush would want to make amends and get back to winning ways whereas Abhinandan would want to not cede his winning start for anything. The audience would be enthralled by this Bout as it would be a battle of wits from both the Boxers.
The other Super Lightweight Bout for 4 Rounds between Ayush Roy and Govardhan Sai would be an interesting affair as Ayush started off his career with an emphatic win against the more experienced Harendra just last month and Govardhan also had a TKO win in the same Event. With these two Guys going against each other to be one up, this Bout would be an explosive start to the year for the Fight Fans and promises to get their monies’ worth, right from the start.
The Event opener is the 4-Round Super Flyweight clash between Amir Shaikh and Yash Jadhav, who started his career with an emphatic TKO win 3 months ago. Amir is coming back to the Ring after a year, when he debuted against Amit at the UPB Fight Club’s 16th Edition, held in Mumbai. Amir had shown excellent combat skills despite going down to a controversial split decision and would not want to leave anything to chance this time around. On the other hand, Yash would not want to blemish his great start and thus would not want to settle for anything other than another comprehensive victory. The stakes would make this an explosive start to the evening.
As the UPB Fight Club juggernaut rolls on with new and promising Talents making it their home and launchpad, Fans of the Sport can expect nothing less than the best action to come from the UPB Fight Club stable. Here’s to another evening of superlative Boxing action which promises to entice and enthral the audiences. The New Year promises to start with a Bang for the Fight Fans!
